WELCOME to FIFTH GRADE at PPPCS!
Here are PPPCS we believe in a learning model that incorporates real-world experiences with a thematic based curriculum. We believe that when subjects are integrated, learning becomes more engaging and enhances student understanding of the targeted concepts. Our themes are a timeline of American history and are as follows: Adapting to Survive (1400s-1775), Revolutions that Matter (1776-1783), America in the 1800's (1784-1860), and the Civil War (1861-1865).
Since our first year, the fifth grade has lived through our school's motto "The City is Our Classroom". Within our city we visit places like Fort McHenry, the National Aquarium, and take a trip on the Chesapeake Bay Foundation's work-boat the Snow Goose. We also visit various educational sites within the state of Maryland such as the Anita C. Leight Estuary Center. Fifth grade also visits areas outside of our state like Philadelphia, PA, New York City, NY, and Washington, D.C. We conduct field research on all of our visits that incorporates all of Reading, Math, and Science skills we have learned in the classroom. Explore the rest of our website to learn more!
