We were surprised with a field trip to Ft. McHenry this upcoming Friday! We will primarily be learning about The War of 1812 and the Battle of Baltimore. We will also take in the sights and sounds of the Patapsco River and the last salt marsh left on the entire harbor. I have attached the field trip slip for those students who were invited. Over the course of the school year we will be working WITH the National Park Service to create and dedicate some official memorials and plaques here in the park dedicated to the brave citizens here during the Battle of Baltimore. We hope the park can be a focal point for the Bicentennial of the Battle of Baltimore in Sep. 2014! To learn more about the Battle of Baltimore and what happened here in the park read the link! (Hampstead Hill is the name of the hill where the Pagoda is now located in the park.)
